# Meta vs Google Ads

Where the two platforms differ inside Adsap, from the menu names to how deep you can drill and which features exist on only one side.

Adsap covers both platforms through one interface, but it does not pretend they are the same product. Where the platforms differ, the app follows the platform instead of inventing a shared vocabulary that matches neither.

This page collects every place you will notice it.

## Telling which one you are looking at

The blue **Google Ads** pill is the marker. It appears next to Google accounts in the account selector, in the connected accounts table, and in page headers. No pill means Meta.

Everything on screen follows the account selected in the top bar. Switching the account switches the whole app, including which menu entries exist.

## The menu changes

| Menu entry | On Meta | On Google Ads |
|---|---|---|
| Ad Sets | **Ad Sets** | **Ad Groups** |
| Campaigns | The Meta campaign builder | A chooser of six campaign types |
| Extensions | Not shown | Shown |
| Bulk Manage | Not shown | Shown |
| Instagram Accounts | Shown | Not shown |

Adsap hides menu entries with no counterpart instead of showing a dead end. If a section looks shorter than you remember, check which account you selected.

## How deep the dashboard goes

| Level | Meta | Google Ads |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Campaigns | Campaigns |
| 2 | Ad sets | Ad groups |
| 3 | Ads | Keywords |

The third level is the real difference. On Meta the thing you optimize is the ad, because the creative wins or loses. On Google Search the thing you optimize is the keyword, because the query wins or loses. Adsap drills to whichever one carries the signal.

Google Ads also has a **Search terms** view, showing the real queries people typed. Meta has no counterpart, because nobody types anything.

## Campaign types

**Meta** has one builder covering all objectives.

**Google Ads** has six separate wizards, because the campaign types need different things: [Search](/guides/google-ads/search), [Performance Max](/guides/google-ads/performance-max), [Demand Gen](/guides/google-ads/demand-gen), [Shopping](/guides/google-ads/shopping), [App](/guides/google-ads/app), [Display](/guides/google-ads/display).

Each Google wizard offers a **Validate** step that checks the campaign against Google before creating anything.

## Creatives

Both platforms upload from your computer, Google Drive or Dropbox.

Two Google-only differences:

- **An AI content label.** Google requires the label in some regions (the EU, India and New York). Adsap asks whether an asset is AI generated instead of answering for you.
- **Video goes to YouTube.** Google Ads consumes video from YouTube, so uploads land on an unlisted YouTube channel. See [YouTube Video Upload](/guides/google-ads/youtube-upload).

## Recommendations

The checks differ because the platforms fail differently.

**Meta:** ads starved of delivery, ads losing money, weak launches, ads wearing out. All about creative.

**Google Ads:** search terms wasting money, phrases worth blocking, terms worth promoting to keywords. All about queries.

[Alerts](/guides/recommendations/alerts) are the same on both platforms. Spending stopping and tracking going silent look alike everywhere.

## Automation rules

| | Meta | Google Ads |
|---|---|---|
| Can watch | Campaigns, ad sets, ads | Campaigns, ad sets |
| Recent days ignored | 1 | 2 |
| Learning guard | Yes | Not applicable |

Google gets a longer conversion-lag buffer because its conversions typically take longer to attribute. The learning guard is Meta-specific, because the learning phase is a Meta concept.

## Disconnecting an account

**Meta:** removing an account resets its configuration in Adsap.

**Google Ads:** removing an account unlinks it from the workspace, and you can relink it later.

## What exists on only one side

**Meta only:** the campaign and ad set builders, Instagram account management, catalog and collection ad formats, all five ad formats in ad sheets.

**Google only:** the six campaign wizards, ad groups, extensions, bulk manage, keyword planning, search terms, impression share and quality score metrics.

## What is identical

The performance dashboard, dashboard settings, recommendations, automation, workspaces and members, billing, the AI Copilot, and account defaults. Same page, same behavior, whichever account you select.
