What is a Google Ads MCP server?

A Google Ads MCP server is a program that gives an AI assistant tools for a Google Ads account. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard behind it. Google publishes a read-only one on GitHub that you host yourself. On Free, the copilot creates Search campaigns and ad groups and manages keywords. Performance Max, Demand Gen, Shopping, App and Display, plus extensions, targeting and uploads, need Early Access.

Create a free Adsap account at app.adsap.ai. Under Settings, sign in with Google, tick the Google Ads permission and pick your accounts.

Ask your assistant to list your Google Ads accounts. If they come back, the connection works.

Claude works on every plan, including Free. ChatGPT works on paid plans, on the web, with Developer mode on. Perplexity needs Pro, Max or Enterprise.

No developer token needed

Google's own server asks for a Google Cloud project with the Google Ads API turned on, OAuth credentials, and Python on your machine. Its README marks the developer token optional, but every setup example in it sets one. With Adsap you sign in with Google in the browser and tick one permission. Adsap handles the API access on its side.

How it works

Your assistant sends each request to Adsap's server. The server keeps your Google refresh token encrypted, checks that the account belongs to your workspace, shows you a preview for any write, then calls the Google Ads API. Each action lands in your workspace's audit log. The assistant never sees the token.
