Ad set budget split calculator
An ad set budget split takes one daily budget and divides it across the ad sets in a campaign. Equal split gives every ad set the same amount. Weighted split gives each ad set a share in proportion to the results you expect from it. An audience you expect to bring three times the purchases gets three times the budget.
On Meta you can skip the split. Advantage+ campaign budget sets one budget at the campaign level and Meta moves it between ad sets as results come in. Use this calculator when you set ad set budgets by hand: to force spend on a test audience, or to hold a fixed budget per market.
| Ad set | Share | Daily budget |
|---|---|---|
| Ad set 1 | 33% | $66.67 |
| Ad set 2 | 33% | $66.67 |
| Ad set 3 | 33% | $66.66 |
| Total | 100% | $200.00 |
Meta note: Advantage+ campaign budget sets one budget at the campaign level and Meta does the split. Ad set budgets also have minimums that depend on the bid strategy, the currency and other settings. See Meta’s minimum budget rules before you publish small budgets.
How it is calculated
- Equal split: daily budget per ad set = total daily budget / number of ad sets
- Weighted split: daily budget per ad set = total daily budget x (expected results for that ad set / sum of expected results)
- Amounts are rounded to cents so the ad sets add up to the total
Worked example
A campaign has $200 a day and three ad sets. Equal split: $66.67, $66.67 and $66.66.
Weighted split with expected results of 30, 10 and 10 purchases a day: shares of 60%, 20% and 20%, so $120, $40 and $40 a day.
Read this with care
- Advantage+ campaign budget: Meta's help page describes it as one central campaign budget that Meta manages across ad sets for the best overall results. It may not spend equally on each ad set. If you turn it on, set the campaign budget and skip the split. About Advantage+ campaign budget.
- Minimum budgets: every ad set budget has a minimum. Meta's help page says the requirement considers the business vertical, budget type, buying type, bid strategy, optimization, currency and schedule. Ads Manager shows an alert when a budget is under it. This calculator does not check minimums, so read Meta's minimum budget rules before you publish small splits. Meta's minimum budget rules.

FAQ
Advantage+ campaign budget lets Meta move one campaign budget between ad sets toward the best results. Meta notes the spend will not be equal across ad sets. Set budgets per ad set when you need control: a test that must spend, a market with a fixed budget, or ad sets you compare on equal footing. Meta's help page says Advantage+ campaign budget suits campaigns with at least two ad sets.
It depends. Meta's minimum budget page says the requirement considers business vertical, budget type, buying type, bid strategy, optimization, currency and schedule, and that minimums may vary by country and objective. Ads Manager shows an alert when a budget is under the minimum. Check Meta's minimum budget rules for your own setup rather than a figure from a blog.
Use the results you expect from each ad set over the same period, for example purchases or leads a day, from past performance or a delivery estimate. Only the proportions matter: 3, 1, 1 gives the same split as 30, 10, 10. When you have no data, start equal and move budget after the first results.
Budgets are set in cents, so $100 across three ad sets cannot be $33.333 each. The calculator rounds each amount to the cent and gives the leftover cents to the largest remainders, so the ad sets always add up to the total you entered.
Google Ads sets budgets at the campaign level, not per ad group, so the split applies to campaigns. Enter the total you want across several campaigns and treat each line as a campaign. Google's shared budgets let several campaigns draw from one pool, which is the closer equivalent of Meta's Advantage+ campaign budget.
