Account Defaults

Account Defaults in the left menu is where you decide what new work starts with. Fill it in once per ad account, and every campaign, ad set and ad you create afterwards starts with those values in place.

Two pages:

  • Launch Settings. Which Page and Instagram account your ads run under, which pixel they report to, how they get named, and whether new ads start paused.
  • Enhancements. Which automatic creative changes the platform may make to your ads.

Both pages are per ad account. Two accounts in the same workspace can have different defaults, and switching accounts in the selector switches which set you are editing.

The one rule worth knowing

Defaults only ever fill in a blank. They apply to new work and never overwrite something already filled in.

The order of precedence, strongest first:

  1. What you typed. Nothing overwrites a value you have entered by hand.
  2. An ad template you applied. Templates beat account defaults, which is the point of a template.
  3. These account defaults.

Changing a default does not go back and change ads you have already built. It changes what the next blank row starts with.

Where else these appear

The setup wizard asks for the same settings when you first connect an account. These pages are where you change them afterwards, and where you fill in anything you skipped. Every field in setup is optional, so skipping is normal and breaks nothing.
