Ad Templates

An ad template saves a set of defaults you can reuse across many ads. Instead of entering the same Facebook Page, Instagram account, pixel, copy and enhancement settings for every ad, save them once in a template and apply it where you need it.

Plans: ad templates are an Early Access feature. See Pricing.

What Templates Store

Templates cover ad-level defaults. One template can hold any combination of these settings:

Copy Defaults

SettingDescription
Primary texts (1-5)Default body copy variants that Meta rotates.
Headlines (1-5)Default headline variants.
Descriptions (1-5)Default description variants.
CTA buttonDefault call-to-action (e.g., SHOP_NOW, LEARN_MORE).
Destination URLDefault landing page.
URL parametersDefault UTM or tracking parameters.

Identity and Tracking

SettingDescription
Facebook PageThe page the ad runs from.
Instagram accountThe Instagram account shown on Instagram placements.
Partner Facebook PageFor branded content / partnership ads.
Partner InstagramFor branded content / partnership ads.
PixelThe Meta pixel for tracking conversions.
Catalog / Product setDefault catalog references for catalog-based ads.

Templates hold no images or videos. They carry the settings around the creative, not the creative itself. Media comes from your creative library onto the row.

Enhancement Toggles

Templates can include Meta’s Advantage+ creative enhancement settings, grouped by ad format:

Image enhancements: relevant comments, visual touchups, text improvements, overlays, brightness/contrast adjustments, animation, site links, enhanced CTA, media flexibility, translations, music, and more.

Video enhancements: relevant comments, visual touchups, text improvements, effects, site links, enhanced CTA, media flexibility, translations, and more.

Carousel enhancements: business AI, image expansion, site links, relevant comments, visual touchups, profile end card, highlight card, dynamic description, enhanced CTA.

Collection enhancements: business AI, adapt to placement, description automation, image background generation, inline comments, hide price, enhanced CTA.

Flexible format: Advantage+ creative toggle.

Tip: Enhancement toggles control Meta’s AI-powered creative optimizations. Switch them on and Meta adjusts your creatives on its own. If you want full control over how your ads appear, leave them off.

Which value wins

When you apply a template to an ad sheet row, values fill in by this order of precedence:

  1. Your explicit values win. Any field you set in the ad row or create request comes first.
  2. Template values fill the gaps. Any field you leave empty takes the template’s value.
  3. System defaults apply last. Fields that neither you nor the template set take Adsap’s built-in defaults (for example, status defaults to PAUSED and cta defaults to SHOP_NOW).

Templates only add. They never override something you set yourself.

Through the AI Copilot, the template’s enhancement settings apply at launch. Copy, call to action and identity come from the request.

An example

Suppose you have a template with:

  • Facebook Page: “My Store”
  • Headline 1: “Shop Now”
  • CTA: SHOP_NOW

And you create an ad with:

The merged ad has:

  • Facebook Page: “My Store” (from template)
  • Headline 1: “Summer Sale” (your value wins over the template)
  • CTA: SHOP_NOW (from template)
  • Destination URL: https://mystore.com/sale  (your value)

Creating a Template

In the Web Dashboard

  1. Go to app.adsap.ai  and select your ad account.
  2. Open Ad Launcher, then Templates, in the sidebar.
  3. Click Create Template.
  4. Name the template (for example, “Brand Standard - France” or “Holiday Campaign Defaults”).
  5. Fill in the settings you want to save as defaults.
  6. Save the template.

Via the AI Copilot

Ask the copilot to list your templates:

List my ad templates.

Note: The AI copilot can also create, update and delete templates. It previews the change first.

Applying a Template

In Ad Sheets

Each row in the ad sheet has an ad_template_id column. Select a template from the dropdown and its defaults merge into that row. Different rows in the same sheet can use different templates.

Via the AI Copilot

When you create an ad through the copilot, name the template:

Create a single-image ad using my "Brand Standard" template, with headline "New Arrivals" and the hero-banner.jpg creative.

The copilot passes the template along. Its enhancement settings apply at launch; copy, call to action and identity come from your request. The copilot shows you the resulting ad before creating anything.

Previewing the Merge Result

Before committing, preview the merged payload. Ask for a preview:

Preview an ad using my "Brand Standard" template with headline "Spring Collection", without creating it.

The preview returns the fully resolved payload. The response echoes template_applied with the identifier of the template it used.

Do this when you build a template for the first time, to confirm the merge produces what you expect.

Best Practices

Create templates for recurring patterns. If you run ads for the same brand across many campaigns, save a template with the brand’s page, Instagram account, pixel, and standard copy.

Use templates for consistency. A template gives every ad the right page, pixel and enhancement settings, so you launch fewer ads with the wrong identity or missing tracking.

Keep template names descriptive. Names like “Brand Standard - France” or “Catalog Ads - Holiday” are easier to work with than “Template 1” or “Default”.

Review the merge result. For templates with many enhancement toggles, ask for a preview and confirm the final payload before launching.
