Creating a Campaign

Ad Launcher, then Campaigns creates a Meta campaign. The page is one form, headed Campaign Configuration, described as the required settings to launch your campaign.

A campaign holds the decisions that apply to everything under it: what you are optimizing for, where the budget sits, and whether the ads fall into a regulated category.

Campaign Name

Use your naming convention or enter a custom name. See Naming conventions.

Objective

Six options, matching Meta’s own:

ObjectiveUse it for
AwarenessReach and recall rather than clicks
TrafficSending people to a website, a profile, or a phone call
EngagementVideo views, post engagement, event responses, page likes, profile visits
LeadsInstant forms, website leads, or calls
App PromotionInstalls and in-app actions
SalesPurchases and other high-value conversions on a website or by phone

You cannot change the objective after you create the campaign. It also decides what the ad set offers afterwards: which conversion locations exist, and which performance goals you can pick. If you pick Traffic and later want Sales, you build a new campaign.

Special Ad Categories

If your ads relate to a regulated category you must declare it here. The options follow Meta’s list: None, Financial products and services, Employment, Housing, Social issues, elections or politics, and Online gambling and gaming.

Declaring one also requires at least one Country. You can pick more than one. Meta stores them as a list on the campaign, and every ad set under it must target locations inside that list.

Meta restricts targeting for housing, employment and financial products and services. Age locks to 18 to 65, gender to all, and any city or ZIP needs at least a 15 mile (25 km) radius. Social issues and online gambling keep normal targeting. In every declared category, ad set locations stay inside the countries declared on the campaign. That is Meta’s rule, not Adsap’s, and the ad set form reflects it.

Online gambling and gaming ads only deliver once Meta has authorized the ad account for gambling (Business Suite, then Authorizations and verifications). Adsap can create the campaign either way, but Meta will not run the ads without that authorization.

Not declaring a category that applies is worse than declaring one you did not need. Meta rejects undeclared regulated ads, and repeated rejections damage the account.

Budget Strategy

Two choices, and this one shapes how you work afterwards.

Campaign Budget (CBO) puts one budget on the campaign and lets Meta move it between ad sets based on performance. The page describes it as sharing some of your budget with other ad sets.

Ad Set Budget (ABO) leaves the budget off the campaign, and you set it on each ad set instead. The page says you will select it later on the ad set.

CBO fits when your ad sets are interchangeable and you want Meta to find the winner. ABO fits when a specific audience needs a specific amount, for instance in a test where you want a fair comparison.

Budget Type and Amount

With CBO on, choose Daily Budget or Lifetime Budget and enter a Budget Amount, in your ad account’s currency.

Daily spends up to that amount each day. Lifetime spreads the total across the campaign’s schedule, which requires an end date on the ad set.

Bid Strategy

How Meta bids in the auction. The available strategies depend on the objective: some objectives reject some strategies outright, and Adsap only offers the ones that apply.

Campaign Spending Limit

Optional. This is Meta’s own Campaign Spending Limit field: a maximum total spend for the campaign, independent of the daily budget. Not available with a lifetime budget. A hard stop rather than a pacing instruction.

Set it on any campaign you will not watch daily.

Advantage+ Catalog Ads

Toggling Enable catalog-based advertising binds a product Catalog to the campaign.

This is the setting that catches people out: the catalog binds at campaign level, not on the ad set. Both Catalog ads and Collection ads need it, and you cannot add it later to a campaign created without it. If you plan to run either format, switch it on now.

You choose the product set per ad row in the sheet, not here.

Optional, and only for App Promotion campaigns. Identifies the app you are advertising.

Status

Active or Paused. Paused campaigns do not spend until you activate them.

Leave it on Paused unless you have a reason. Activating later takes one click; spent money does not come back.

After creating it

The campaign exists but has nothing in it. Next is the ad set.

Through the AI Copilot

You can create campaigns by chat. The assistant shows a preview of the full structure and creates nothing until you confirm. What it creates starts paused.
